Mission Statement
Ipswich Junior Sailing empowers children and families of Ipswich and surrounding communities through sailing and small boat instruction, regatta racing and onshore nautical skills instruction – developing autonomy, teamwork, curiosity and appreciation of our local marine environment.
Ipswich Junior Sailing Program
Ipswich Junior Sailing offers a summer sailing program for students ages 8 to 16. IJS teaches introductory to advanced experiences in the nautical skills associated with sailing a small boat safely. Through this experience, sailors will have the opportunity to learn the skills and gain the knowledge necessary to build confidence in their ability to sail a small boat in a variety of conditions.
The IJS sailing program is designed to provide an integrated experience both on water and land. As such, each session will offer engaging on-shore and water-based instruction with hands-on activities related to small boat seamanship and safety.
The IJS program seeks to inspire awareness and appreciation of the local marine environment. Using the unique natural history of the estuaries and barrier beaches that define Ipswich Harbor, IJS instructors inspire students to become environmental stewards and socially responsible individuals.
Ipswich Junior Sailing, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and admits students of any race, color, religion, or national origin. Scholarships are also available.
