Michael Carner was the lone sailor representing the IJS Opti race team for the week. Michael had an excellent week of racing. He placed at the top of his competitive fleet consistently, and he took home first overall in the Opti Green fleet. IJS is incredibly proud of Michael for this achievement at such a young age!
In the 420 fleet, Will Coughlin (skipper) and Charlie Carner (crew) competed against over 20 other boats. They put up an incredible performance and secured several top finishes! Will and Charlie secured a third place finish overall.
Also in the 420 Green Fleet, Ryan Carner (skipper) and Holden Choma (crew) and Benji Lochtefield (skipper) and Paolo Calderaro (crew) competed fiercely against great competitors. Ryan and Holden finished 12th overall and Benji and Paolo finished 9th overall!
The IJS race team was coached by IJS Co-Directors, Ali Moulton and Amelia Krause and IJS Race Team Coaches, Jack Pearlson and Will Moroney. Our coaches are incredibly proud of the effort our sailors put up. Marblehead Junior Race Week is consistently a highly competitive regatta with skilled sailors from all over New England. Our sailors placement in the top of their fleets reflects their hard work and dedication to the IJS race team all summer long.
